Arguably Argentina’s greatest artist, Mercedes Sosa, will be performing a one-off exclusive concert at indigO2 on Tuesday 15 July 2008. Mercedes Sosa will be joined by creme de la creme of Argentine musicians and will be playing some of her extensive and beautiful repertoire and some from her most recent release Corazon Libre.
The last time Meredes Sosa was here in London was around 5 years ago so this is a rare performance and one that any Latin American or Mercedes Sosa fan will not want to miss.
Mercedes Sosa is an whose voice sends shivers through the soul to whom ever has the fortune of hearing her sing. For this reason she has been labeled by many as the Voice of Latin America.
Mercedes was forced in to exile during the Videla Dictatorship and ended up, like many of her compatriots, in Paris, France.
Sosa is UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Latin America and the Caribbean. She has won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Folk Album in 2000 (“Misa Criolla”), 2003 (“Acústico”) and 2006 (“Corazón Libre”), as well as many international awards.
Mercedes Sosa truly is one of Latin America’s finest voices.
