Movimentos – Live @ The Notting Hill Arts Club – Latin London
Movimientos Live
@ The Notting Hill Arts Club
Tuesday 27th October
Movimientos present another essential instalment of across the board Latin and global music plus DJs, films and performance.
Starting with two films courtesy of the Native Spirit Festival, one about an indigenous community fighting against the impacts tourism in Mexico, followed by a focus on the healing powers of Ayehuasca. On the live front we have Ilaria Marè warming up with some bluesy Bossa and Samba influenced acoustic soul. Then presenting a scaled down 3 piece version of the sensational Ethna Mortè with their experimental Latin and global sounds, featuring new addition Colombian singer David Caneva on vocals. Followed by one of the most exciting new acts on the London global music scene – Awalè making the link with Eastern Europe and African with their original Afro-Gypsy fusion. And Mr Huevo, MC from one of THE original radical Cuban Hip Hop groups Los Paisanos brings his a fresh selection of Reggaeton and Hip Hop beats.

ABC Trust Big City Sleep
Sleepathon for Brasilian Street Kids
On Mon 30 November 2009,
The ABC Trust invites you to take part in a 12 hour sponsored mass sleepout challenge by swapping your comfortable beds and homes for the basic provisions of a cardboard box on the floor of London’s well-loved Spitalfields Market, in the heart of the city. Once you have found your pitch inside the market for the night, ABC Trust will offer you some bedtime entertainment in the form of a capoeira demonstration and some live Brazilian acoustic music, as well as some hot food to help ease you into a good night’s sleep.
Everyday, an estimated 7 million children are forced to face the violence, hunger and isolation of life on the streets of Brazil, with little hope for the future. ABC Trust helps transform the lives of the most vulnerable children. The ABC ‘Big City Sleep’ is aimed at raising awareness of the plight of homeless children and raising funds to help provide them a better future.
For further details see the ABC Trust Big City Sleep website
Please note: Neither event is in any way trying to re-enact or trivialise homelessness, it is not a tough physical challenge, and you are not expected to take risks with your personal safety.
Event date: Monday 30th November
Location: Spitalfields Market, Crispin Place, Brushfield Street, East London.
Time: From 6pm on Monday 30th November until 6/7am on Tuesday 1st December 09
Fundraising target:
Minimum £150 per person.
