GERMAN SOULS LIFE AFTER THE COLONIA DIGNIDAD.

In 1961 500 German sect members immigrated to Chile and for over 40 years they lived cut off from the rest of the world.

Paul Schäfer, a former Luftwaffe paramedic, was the founder and first leader (“Permanent Uncle”) of Colonia Dignidad.

The colony also became an operational base of the Pinochet secret service: Dirección Nacional de Inteligencia.

Allegations of torture and and Child molestation amongst beatings were common place in Colonia Dignidad.

This film will explore the personal stories of some of the members of Colonia Dignidad what it was like, how they are able to move on and how people may view them.

Directors Martin Farkas and Matthias Zuber will be present at the screening on Saturday 28th November to do a bit of Q&A

Love Argentina Party II

Love Argentina es un grupo de jóvenes expatriados argentinos y voluntarios de otros países del mundo que comparten un gran aprecio por Argentina, su cultura y su gente. Nuestra visión es la de compartir las maravillas de Argentina con el resto del mundo, con la intención de lograr un impacto en la comunidad, ayudando económicamente a niños a terminar sus estudios.

Después de dos años la celebración está de regreso, para seguir generando más razones para amar Argentina y recaudar fondos para los que más lo necesitan.

En esta segunda edición de LoveArgentina Party, estamos trabajando con APARU y Fundación Sicilia, para ayudar a jóvenes de la ciudad de General Güemes, Salta provincia, a completar sus estudios secundarios.

“Este evento nació de la necesidad de ayudar Argentina y promover nuestra cultura. Estamos ansiosos de lanzar esta segunda edición” digo Agustín Rubini, Organizador de LoveArgentina I.

En esta ocasión la meta es recaudar £7000 para dar 20 becas a jóvenes que pertenecen a familias poco privilegiadas y darles así la oportunidad de tener acceso a una educación que les permita ampliar sus posibilidades.

¿Cómo vamos a conseguir nuestra meta? Organizando una fiesta increíble y reuniendo 750 invitados para que disfruten de la comida, la bebida y la música tradicional de Argentina.

LoveArgentina II contará con:

• 4 sectores distintivos: Baile Argentino, Salón de Tango, Espacio Chill out y área para socializar.
• 20 embajadores de evento: Ellos se asegurarán de que todos disfruten de la fiesta.
• Clases gratis de Tango, performances de tango en vivo acompañados de la música de un gran bandoneón.
• Rifa con excelentes premios, la propia entrada es el boleto para la rifa.
• Bandas en vivo, tocando música Argentina y Latinoamericana.
• Empanadas Argentinas, mate, vino, cerveza, dulce de leche y deliciosos postres.

Love Argentina I

La primera edición de LoveArgentina se llevó a cabo en Septiembre 2007, en una embarcación en el Río Támesis. 500 invitados internacionales se acercaron a disfrutar del evento y colaboraron en la recaudación de £3000 para ayudar a niños argentinos de escasos recursos. Contamos con 25 embajadores de evento y con el Embajador de Argentina en Londres quien se mostró muy entusiasmado con el concepto del grupo y el objetivo de la celebración.

“Estoy muy contento de estar aquí, y quiero felicitarlos. A pesar de estar tan lejos de Argentina, están haciendo un gran trabajo promocionando nuestro país. Sólo quiero decir gracias por lo que hacen” comentó Federico Mirre Embajador de Argentina en Londres en 2007.

Ahora en esta segunda celebración la meta es reunir al menos 750 invitados, y recaudar £7000, para ayudar a los niños del norte de Argentina, a que terminen su educación secundaria.

Estamos listos para el desafío – Argentina puede estar a la vuelta de la esquina, aquí en Londres, sólo por una noche! Te esperamos!

Osvalso Zotto & Gisele Avanzi, Takis Kalogroulis and Jane Solomon, John and Nina Krook, Eloy Prim and Analia Centurion, Hector Villalba and partner, Filippo Avignonesi and Francesca del Buono, Jorge Udrisard and Andrea Ponzetti, Andrea and Julia Ciafardini, Laszlo Budai and Maria Glotz, Eduardo del Rio and Elisa Vidal, Lucas Panero and Cintia Tinelli, and Giggio Pascualetti and Anna Zyuzina.

Followed by a ball till after midnight with music provided by two world-famous orchestras: El Despues Quintet and Tango for 3 and Per Arne Glorvigen, along with Argentinean singer Sandra Rehder and renowned Flamenco guitarist Esteban Antonio.

Matinee shows on the Saturday and Sunday from 3.00-5.00pm.

The performers will be giving master classes and workshops for all levels. They will also teach advanced techniques: women’s advanced, volcadas & colgadas and milonga & vals. Master class tickets are £15 for beginners and intermediate classes, £25 for advanced classes.

Part two of Movimientos 5th birthday celebrations! 5 years since the birth of Movimientos and two and a half years since beginning their live residency at the Arts Club Movimientos present another exemplary showcase of London’s vibrant alternative Latin and Global music scene.

On the live front the night includes Pura Mescla’s potent and soulful brew of Brazilian and Latin rhythms mixed with Spanish and Reggae influences. Ten Minute Cloud hot on the release of their second album play their unique brand of Samba grooves whilst drawing on melancholic soulful influences, Rita Lee meets Leonard Cohen! Groovesguru Band produce exceptionally tight Afro-Latin percussion led grooves featuring some of London’s best Latin and Jazz musicians.

And Me Tarzan, You Jane! is the exciting brainchild of electronic producer Capitol K and Brazilian star Cibelle cooking up some spaced out Cumbia electronica, this show follows their debut show at Secousse several months back where they ignited the dancefloor. Plus a very special showcase show at 7.30 from soulful singer and upcoming new artist Katie V.

And joining the Cal Jader on the decks is Don Carlos T, a veteran of the Latin scene but whose finger remains tightly on the pulse of whats hot, similarly DJ Huskii whose Ftang Ftang nights have been waking new audiences up to the sounds of the global underground.

Sons of Cuba is set in the legendary Habana boxing academy. This is more than just an academy it’s a boarding school where kids the age of 9 are hand picked to become the best fighters in the world as a result Cuban boxing has dominated the Olympics over the last 25 years or so.

Movimientos present another essential instalment of across the board Latin and global music plus DJs, films and performance.

Starting with two films courtesy of the Native Spirit Festival, one about an indigenous community fighting against the impacts tourism in Mexico, followed by a focus on the healing powers of Ayehuasca. And to tie in with that we have the debut mini-theatre puppet show from our favourite performance artist Jose Navarro, which is inspired by the Ayehuasca ritual and experience.

On the live front we have Ilaria Marè warming up with some bluesy Bossa and Samba influenced acoustic soul. Then presenting a scaled down 3 piece version of the sensational Ethna Mortè with their experimental Latin and global sounds, featuring new addition Colombian singer David Caneva on vocals.  Followed by one of the most exciting new acts on the London global music scene – Awalè making the link with Eastern Europe and African with their original Afro-Gypsy fusion. And Mr Huevo, MC from one of THE original radical Cuban Hip Hop groups Los Paisanos brings his a fresh selection of Reggaeton and Hip Hop beats.

Joining Cal Jader on the decks is another Cuban don DJ Angelo bringing an exclusive supply of the funkiest new sounds emerging from Cuba and Latin America.
